Holding on to your childhood

I feel like no matter how old you get or where your life takes you, you should always have crayons at hand.

Why?

Maybe you want to randomly get back in touch with your inner child and/or you desperately need to take a colouring break. (hey it could happen!)  Maybe you’re working on a project and need to kick it old school and do some colouring yourself. Maybe you’re babysitting and need to entertain a child.

the moral of this story: Have crayons!

You know you loved them! A random pack tucked away in your home is a good idea.

Home remedies

Home beauty treatments are something that I have been giving a go at a lot recently. I mean who doesn’t like to look good? Furthermore who doesn’t like to look good ON A BUDGET!!
SKin/Hair care can be super expensive so I have decided that home remedies are the way to go. I have always been a fan of the oatmeal/honey/milk face mask. I always feel a million times softer and smoother when it’s over so I decided to try some more.

Here are some of my faves:

  1. smooth skin : Mix 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water into a paste, and apply in a circular motion before rinsing.
  2. Shiny hair: 1 egg 1 tsp honey 2 tbsp olive oil. Beat the egg into the honey then beat in the oil.  Shampoo hair, rinse, then apply mixture to hair and scalp.  Massage for 5 minutes, then rinse well.
  3. Cucumbers and potatoes(cold slices) on the eyes help reduce puffiness

These are quite popular ones but do you guys have any that works for you that has stood the test of time and being fabulous? SHare them!

Make bad days better

I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights. I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life. I’ve learned that making a “living” is not the same thing as making a “life.” I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back. I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one. I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn. I feel like most days, this is exactly my life philosophy. The best part about this though, is that it expects nothing from anybody else. Just you. You get up and decide how your day is going to be. You decide how to deal with situations. You decide to smile and make it better. YOU,

So when my days are tough. I’ll stop and take a breath and tell myself : “keep it togther girl. Smile.”

Bucket List : Own an Elie Saab creation

Elie Saab: He is a 64-year-old Lebanese fashion designer who is known for glitz and glamour in all his pieces.  He describes his dresses as ‘elegant and glamorous,’ and who am I to disagree.

His pieces have a way of making any woman in them look like  a princess. The epitome of glitz and glam is no understatement. The fabrics are light and flowing, with exquisite detail. Always feminine and sparkling with an extra burst of star potential.

I have always been one to love dressing up. Full on princess mode. And oh! these dresses suggest that I should  put them on and be waited on hand and foot, to be treated like a queen.

The thing though that I like the most, is how you can see his inspiration in his work. He cites Lebanon as an inspiration (his home town anyway) and I can see it. I can see the middle eastern vibe.  It reminds me of my Indian heritage and so  his pieces of art means more to me. Taking the middle eastern culture to the forefront of top class design and elegance.

So one day, when I am making money, *HOPEFULLY* I can buy myself an Elie Saab.

Bucket list : Masquerade Ball

I honestly consider this to be the most unlikely to happen thing on my bucket list. I mean no one has Masquerade balls anymore. Those masks are unbelievably expensive. Yeah I have priced them. I think the only way this can happen is if I throw myself one or go to a Mardi Gras themed party, the latter of which is still unlikely.

Oh well, here’s to masks, curls and sexy dresses!

Bucket list

Sometimes you make little mental notes of who and what you are. Little moments where life hits you smack into the face and cause a change in the pattern of your thoughts. SOmetimes it’s noticeable, sometimes it’s on a subconscious level.

No matter how big or small these moments are, whenever I have one I immediately make a plan.

I make a plan about what kind of person I want to be, a place  I must see, an experience I should have and all these things are on a list.

A bucket list.

Maybe I’ll never complete my bucket list. Maybe I will. Who knows.

One thing though, your whole life should be an adventure where you’re on a constant quest to fulfil the little dreams and promises you make to yourself when no one can hear.

So I’ll post a couple of things from my bucket list in future post. What’s on your bucket list?

Detox

I decided that to start off the New Year, I should detox. Truthfully I am not the healthiest of people and today I am without internet and a cellphone so I believed that in order to make my day worthwhile I should undertake a detox. This was how my day went:

Day one: No Caffeine

  • Up @ 630am searching desperately for coffee. If there had been any in the house I would probably already have had it.
  • 7am banged my knee against the table. SERIOUSLY where is my coffee?
  • 8am – starving. Zero desire to eat what’s in the kitchen.
  • 810am decides why the hell not, let’s make this detox worth it. I will now be anorexic.
  • 830am too hungry to carry on. Refusing to do any of the house work that is meant for me to do.
  • 9am watching infomercials dedicated to kitchen appliances. Kitchens look lovely I might be hungry again.
  • Ugh where is my breakfast?! I need it. Come to me food.
  • Made it till 10, caved. Had a coca cola with breakfast. Worst breakfast ever.
  • 1030am blogging about it.

Well…

This is awkward.

That was short lived. So we have ruled out two things here on my quest for weight loss: Starving doesn’t work, I am ill prepared for a detox and I should probably never skip breakfast. While I am at it I should count before I use numbers in writing.

I am quite aware of the benefits of having a good detox and the simple fact that I need to lose weight is weighing me down more than the 20 pounds I wish to lose. Every time I see my doctor she goes on and on about how I need to get it together. I just can’t seem to stop myself from drinking coca cola. It’s my drug.

I need to sort out why I feel it makes my life better. Hence the detox from sugar and coca cola.

Sine my house is currently devoid of any snacks. AT ALL. I think the detox makes sense, I will take two tomorrow morning. No snacks for the day. No coca cola. No coffee.

Bring on the tea.
